Playin' at the Park and Shoppin' with Pop...

Yesterday was so beautiful here in the "big" city of Throckmorton! I took Baylee to the playground because she wanted to WING in the WING... (swing in the swing). So, we packed up some "naks" and some Koolaid and off we headed to the school. (are you noticing the trend with Baylee's speech? She hasn't figured out her "s" yet! LOL) I don't know how many miles Baylee ran all over the playground... but I know I was worn out by the time we had to leave.
This is Baylee running around... This is Baylee yelling... NO MOMMA... I WANNA WING! when I told her we had to go to GiGi and Pop's house. Gotta love the terrible two's.... Of course she recovered when I got her in the car and played her favorite song... Sugarland's "It Happens." She drank her Kookaid and danced in her seat! Someday I'll get that on video, it is a must see! When we got to the grandparents house... GiGi was still in a meeting so we hung out with Pop in his shop... known to our family as "shoppin' with Pop." Baylee built all kinds of stuff and mechaniced on Pop's stool. She was FILTHY when we got finished, but well worth it! As you can see, she has her hammer and some screws she is using to "fix" his stool. Below is Baylee learning how to use a hammer... it is pretty much the cutiest thing EVER!

Funny Story

Okay... So this morning I was getting ready for work... You know, the usual shower, war paint and head dress.... Well, I plugged my hair dryer in and dried the bottom half of my hair then plugged in my Chi flat iron, flipped the switch and OMG... it wouldn't turn on! So, I wiggled the cord, flipped the switch again and still nothing. So I jiggled the cord where it was plugged into the wall... still nothing... At this point I'm starting to get a little worried and upset because all of us girls know how important a flat iron is to our normal routine... I unplugged the Chi and the dryer and flipped the breaker thingie... Plugged in the hair dryer and it worked. So I know at this point there is juice to the outlet. I plugged in the Chi again and flipped the button to on... still nothing. At this point I'm really MAD... I'm thinking to myself.... I'm already running late, Baylee still hasn't had breakfast, I can't just wear a hat to work and if this thing really is broken it is TOTALLY not fitting into my budget to get a new right now... (we all know how I am with my budget!) So, I take a deep breath, put the Chi down and decide that I could just plug in my curling iron and do something creative with my hair this morning and then have Byron look at the Chi this afternoon to see if he could fix it. WELL... I pulled out my curling iron that was in the same drawer the Chi was in... you know... a tangled mass of hair accessories...... Turns out, the curling Iron was plugged in all along! HA! I never pulled the Chi cord out all the way from the drawer b/c it is so long, I just reached in and grabbed the end and put it into the wall.... Turns out I plugged in the curling iron instead of the Chi!

Whew... I'm sure glad my Chi isn't broken... and more grateful my husband wasn't home to see the whole episode!

Wishing you all a happy hair day!

Our Little Girl is 2!

Baylee turned 2 yesterday! I don't think she really understood exactly what all that meant... but I know she had a blast! Last Friday, I took her to "Jump for Joy", which is a huge play center in Wichita Falls. She celebrated her birthday with her friends Canon and Waitley. Baylee turned 2, Canon 3, and Waitley 4. The party was from 5:30 to 7 and she played her little heart out! Now comes the part where I tell you I was a HORRIBLE mother and forgot my camera! I know... I know, it is horrible! But just know that she had a blast!
Yesterday... May 12th was her actual birthday. When she woke up yesterday I sang Happy Birthday to her... she of course looked at me like I had lost my mind and then started dancing! I'm guessing it wasn't that bad since she danced! Here is a picture of her after breakfast... where I really wanted to let her have chocolate cake, but Dad forbid us! (you only get one birthday a year so why not splurge??? He is such a party pooper!)

This is a picture of Baylee and I trying to pose for the camera... as you can see it didn't work out very well!

After I got of work I went and got Baylee and we headed home for her Birthday dinner, Hot dogs and Cheetos of course! She got lost of presents from Mom & Dad and Gigi and Pop. She got a tricycle, potty chair, Eeebees (ABC board game), weeng (swing) for GiGi and Pop's house, and also not pictured is a swing set from Nana and Paw Paw. Paw Paw gets the pleasure of putting it together when he gets back to Texas in a couple of weeks! Yipee! I just know he is SO excited! Is that my daughter actually smiling at the camera when I asked her too? WOW... surely not! Oh, I know now... I told her to say CHEESE! Yea, I knew it couldn't be true! Here is a picture of her cake....

This is Baylee stealing cake off of GiGi's plate! We really have to watch her... she goes in the pantry sometimes and helps herself to chocolate chip cookies! Too cute!

Baylee giving Momma kisses... Family Picture time... can you tell that my husband has a dip in his mouth? Ugh...

Looking forward to Birthday #3... and all the in-between!

Mother's Day...

Mother's Day was a complete Blessing. We had an AWESOME Church service and my Baptism was a smashing... or should I say splashing success! Pop was a little nervous, but he did a wonderful job. I also joined the Church that day. I have to say it was the greatest Mother's Day gift in the world! Sorry, but there are no pictures... we totally forgot! However, when we got back to GiGi and Pop's house for lunch, Baylee picked a flower for GiGi and one for me! Aren't they beautiful?

Byron and Baylee also got me a Humming bird feeder! This of course has been a great joy! We all like to watch the humming birds and now we can enjoy seeing them longer!

Sunday

As you all know.. this Sunday is Mother's Day. I'm planning to do something VERY special on this day. After a whole YEAR's worth of thought and prayer, the Lord has opened a door for me. I will be joining the First Baptist Church of Throckmorton and I will also be baptized by submersion. When I was a freshman in high school I joined the FUMC of Meridian and was also baptized then. However, Baptist and Methodist views on baptism differ. After much research, prayer, and thought I've chosen to be re-baptized by submersion. Yes, I've already given my life to Christ and this new baptism is just a public show of my commitment to that proclamation. Ever since I've moved to Throckmorton there has been something in side of me that kept telling me I have a place in "that" Church. The church that my husband attended as a child, gave his life to Christ, left, and now has returned to with his family. What is greater is knowing that after Sunday, I'll have a place of "service" in that Church. And, hopefully our daughter will one day give her life to Christ in this Church we hold so very dear to our hearts. To top all these overwhelming feelings off... My precious Father-in-law is a Deacon of the Church and will be performing my baptism.

Please keep me and my family in your prayers on this blessed occasion.

Pictures to follow!

My First 10K...

Well, I ran my first 10K last Saturday... Amazingly, somehow I survived. Naw... It was AMAZING! It was The Run for the Sun 1K, 5K, & 10K in Wichita Falls that benefited Whispers of Hope. The course was great and I finished in just a few minutes over an hour. My goal was to finish in one hour, but I came close and I'm proud of that. The weather wasn't too great. It misted rain the whole time I ran so I was drenched by the end. My running buddy Susie ran with me and afterwards we treated ourselves to Cheddars!
Confession... I was suppose to be running in the Heels & Hills Half Marathon that weekend, but do to extenuating circumstances I couldn't make the trip. My good friend Renee did go and it turns out they had to cancel the event due to severe weather! So, I guess it worked out okay anyway! I've found another 10K in Dublin, Texas that I think I'm going to sign up for. It is in June. I think I've found a good group of girls to run it with me so it will be a good girls trip! I'll keep you "posted" on my running successes!

Catch ya later!

And now... for the rest of the story

So, here awhile back our friend Chad Miller sent us a letter, and inside that letter he enclosed this picture... This was taken on August 20, 2001. If you will notice my husband looks VERY young and skinny. When I asked Byron about it, this is the story I was told... he and Chad had been working out at the Ranch one afternoon after class and while they were "messing around" they came up on a "mess" of hogs. They ended up somehow catching this poor little sole. So they loaded him up, tagged him (notice the ear tag that is bigger than the hog...) and took him to Campus. They then turned him loose in the middle of Kleburg. For those of you who aren't familure with A&M... Kleburg was the "Grand Central Station" of West Campus. If you will notice in the picture there seemed to be booze involved because not only is Byron holding eveidence of it, but if you know my husband at all you will know that when he has had "enough" his hat is tilted to the side and back of his head and his shirt, which is normally tucked in... is pulled out.... GOD BLESS THOSE AGGIES!
WHOOP!

~Anne... I know you are dying right now! (how was Davy not involved in this???)
