There's a first time for everything...

Unfortunately, I wish it wasn't so... Baylee has her first ear infection! I feel so sorry for the little trooper. She had a runny nose on Sunday and Monday, of course I didn't think anything about it because we live in allergy central. Tuesday I was in Decatur with Byron at a Rancher's Roundup Meeting. Tamra called and said B wasn't feeling good and she thought her ears might be bothering her. So, Wednesday I took her to the Doc. One look in her right ear and he said... WOW! She definitely has an ear infection! He said it was one of the worst ones he has seen in a while and that he was very surprised she wasn't just absolutely miserable. She definitely gets the high pain tolerance from the Gray side of the family, that's for sure! So, we are on all kinds of meds and I'm hoping I might have my little love bug back into tip top shape before her dad comes home on Sunday!

Wish me luck,

LUNCH TIME CONVERSATION...

Today, Byron and I went home for lunch... together (yes, he now offices with me.) When we got there, of course I hadn't done the dishes. After some joking around and lovingly poking fun at eachother, this is how the conversation ended...

BYRON: Are these things clean or dirty? (talking about the dishes in the dishwasher)

ASHLEY: I think so. (at this point we both bend over and look at the dishes on the bottom rack)

BYRON: Uh, I think not. They are dirty... MAN, do you even know how to turn this thing on?

ASHLEY: Yea, do you know how to load this stupid thing??? (as I point to the dishes in the sink)

BYRON: Yep, I sure do... There is a 12 pack of beer sitting right over there.... get to drinking!!!!!!

If you don't get it... Byron thinks "loading" the dishwasher means getting his wife drunk.....

P.S. This is a REAL conversation... I made nothing up.

Mom's little helper...

Yes, it was her idea
Yes, she got the broom herself
Yes, she moved all the chairs... by herself
Yes, she does this often
Yes, I laughed as much this time as I usually do

She has some pretty good balance skills, uh? If I remember correctly... I was laughing outloud... really hard right about this time... and her comment to me was... "That's not funny, momma!"
Glad my OCD house keeping disorder has rubbed off on her!

Ice Cream War

The full story: Byron was having a MAJOR melt down b/c he wanted some chocolate ice cream. The only kind we had was neapolitan.... and there was only a small amount left. It took him 5 minutes to scrape it all out. Since there was only a little bit, he decided to put into one of Baylee's small bowls. When he sat down at the table... this is what happened.

I almost died...

Well, relatively speaking of course. SO, you all know that this spring I was a crazy lady and started running. I LOVED it. THEN, the Texas weather kicked in about Juneish and this white girl WAS not going to get her honkin' rear end up at 5:30 AM to run with her running group when it was nice and cool outside. So what happened???? Yea, I quit. Very sad, I know. What is even sadder (is that even a word?) anyhew, is the fact that I stopped running, but never adjusted my food intake to reflect that, so now I've gained at least 5 pounds. (well, maybe not 5, but I can definitely tell the difference.) So, after a LONG day at work yesterday I decided that I was going to suck it up and get back to my normal running routine, despite the heat. So I put Baylee down at about 8:30 last night and was out the door with Ipod in hand by 8:45. At about 8:52 I was thinking to myself... this isn't so bad.. I just need to push thru the side cramps... it will get better. 8:55... MAN, now both sides are hurting... I might need to slow down and not over-do it. 8:57... I pass the football field where they are having 2-a-days, oh man, I'm gunna have to pick up the speed, can't have the whole town knowing that I'm sucking wind here... 8:59 pass the football field find a dark ditch on the side of the road and stop, bend over and hurl. 9:01, I pull myself back together and REFUSE to walk home.... I kept telling myself... YOU ARE STRONG, two months ago you were running 6 miles at a time, no problem. Your body carried a baby, and gave birth to that baby... naturally... no freaking drugs! YOU CAN DO THIS! So, I'm still not sure how, but I got home... and I didn't walk... AT ALL. SO, the point I'm trying to make is... NEVER STOP RUNNING... EVER. It SUCKS! If I ever write a blog and say that I'm contemplating stopping, PLEASE remind me of this blog! Please remind me that I almost died and that I don't want to go down that road again. Thanks!

Oh, and while we are on the subject was not quitting and hanging in there. Remind me NEVER to cut my hair again. I found this picture a couple of weeks ago, and I'd REALLY like to get my hair this long again. What do you think?

I'm not a quitter, I'm not a quitter, I'm not a quitter, I'm not a quitter,
