Yes, that is how I'd describe it. Except I never really got to "throw a fit" because my loving husband has this unique gift of pointing out the "Godly" side of things. (thank heavens cause I could have made myself look REALLY bad!)
This is how it has all "gone down."
May 5th, 2010 I got online and ordered a VERY expensive, VERY needed, VERY wanted Glider and Ottoman from JC Penney's. I have been "looking" for this chair since I was pregnant with BAYLEE and finally found the one I want in the exact fabric and style. So without hesitation, I ordered it. I had two Visa gift cards to use in addition to my credit card but when I went to checkout, it only allowed me space to enter one credit card.... So, I got on the phone and called customer service. The nice little lady explained that I'd have to convert those Visa Gift cards into JC Penney E-gift cards in order to use them online. So, that's what I did. I entered the E-gift cards and my Credit Card info and pressed the submit button. Later that day I got my email confirmation that my order had been received and was pending processing.
A couple of days later I logged on to see what the shipping status was, it still had an "order pending status." So, I called back to the Customer Service people. They told me they were having problems getting one of my E-gift cards to process through. He was going to re enter the info and that should fix it. A couple of days later.... I repeat the process.... "order pending status" call CS and they tell me the E-Gift card was still having trouble processing. They took my phone number this time and said they would call when it went through. About a WEEK later, I still hadn't received that magic phone call. So, what do I do? I call CS back. The guy I spoke with sensed my frustration and pulled up my account and told me the e-gift card went through and the order should post in the next 24 hours. Okay, not a problem, its fixed, I'm okay with that.
A few days later I check the status, and it is still pending.... WHAT???? Seriously? It is now MAY 26th and the order hasn't even gone to shipping status yet??? REALLY? Ugh, so I call CS again. REALLY frustrated.... the little man told me that my order had gotten hung up in their system and that he was going to have to CANCEL it and START ALL OVER!!!!! There was no other way. At this point I'm pissed. I want my chair, I'm NESTING and it should have already been here by now. But since it is "THE CHAIR" I wanted I told him to go ahead. He assured me that my chair would be in my possession before the end of JUNE. (I sarcastically told him they told me it would be here by the end of May and we see how far that has gotten us.) Anyway, while I was on the phone with him he reprocessed everything and gave me a new order number and told me that he was going to take an additional $50 off my order of the ottoman because I had been put through so much emotional trauma. (actually he just said for my inconvenience, but it really was emotional trauma) Whew, I hang up the phone and think to myself this is going to be okay. The chair will be here soon and everything has worked out.
About a week and a half goes by and I get the ottoman in. YEAH!!!! I'm SO excited. It is perfect! A few days after that I get my credit card statement in..... Not so perfect. Mr. Nice guy didn't take the $50 off my ottoman purchase..... So, I call again. I express my dis-satisfaction to a SUPERVISOR and she puts me on hold for 27 minutes while she figures out what she can do to fix this situation. When she finally comes back on the line this is what she tells me she and do for me.... (are you ready for this?) She says: Mam, I am going to RUSH deliver you a $50 JC Penney's merchandise gift card for all your trouble!!!! OMG... REALLY? (insert sarcasm here) I then begin to laugh hysterically out loud. After I pulled myself together I tell her. Mam, do you really think I'm going to order anything else from JC Penney's? Seriously? Do what you want with that $50 and I need for you to tell me when my CHAIR will be delivered. (frantic typing occurs on her end of the phone) and then she says... Well, it looks like the Factory has received the order. It should leave the factory in 7-14 business days and then the Shipping company has 7-14 days to contact you to schedule a delivery date.............Silence occurs, mostly because I had passed out, but when I did regain my composure all I could say was WHAT? Its going to be at least another 4 weeks before they even schedule the delivery?? You have GOT to be kidding me? What happened to: it will be here by the end of the month?????
Seriously, I'd had it. She told me she was going to put a RUSH on it, but she couldn't guarantee anything. (really? Imagine that!) They had already charged my card for the chair or I would have canceled the order right then. I just decided to wait it out. It would be worth it. It is "THE CHAIR" after all.
So, I wait.... and I wait.... and I wait.... until.... YESTERDAY! The trucking company called my office around 3:45 and told me the driver would be at my office around 5 to deliver my order. WHOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPIIIIIIEEEEE! I was so excited. I called Byron and told him "THE CHAIR" would be delivered TODAY! So, I went and picked B up around 4:30 and then went back to the office to wait.... and WAIT we did..... the driver didn't get there until 6:30!!!!! Ugh. That's okay, because he had "THE CHAIR".... a little extra waiting would be just fine. Byron loaded the box in his truck and hauled it home. I headed to GiGi and Pops for dinner. Byron had to go check yearlings after dinner so I took B home and we sat on the back porch and stared at the box that held "THE CHAIR." I knew I'd be in MAJOR trouble if I even attempted to move the box into the house, so I left it. Byron got home about 9 and carried the MUCH AWAITED, MUCH WANTED, MUCH NEEDED box with THE CHAIR in the house.
I looked like a little kid twisting my hands and jumping up and down while he opened the box for me. As soon as the tape was cut I ripped open the top of the box, pulled back the plastic to get my first glance at "THE CHAIR."
I'm going to pause the story right here and just make it known that usually, I'm a very patient person. Things don't usually get me uptight all that often, but this experience really invaded my patience bubble. Like, REALLY invaded my bubble. (keep reading to find out why)
Well, that long awaited, much wanted, much needed first look at "THE CHAIR" has yet to happen. WHY? You ask.... well, I"ll tell you why....
BECAUSE THEY SENT ME THE WRONG CHAIR!
Yep, that's right folks.... I got an overstuffed, chenille, WHITE chair in place of my Chocolate, MICRO-fiber, modern glider.....
I couldn't even speak. Byron got REALLY quite and still and just looked at me with that "OH, Man.... things are about to get REALLY bad look." He never really said anything... just gathered up his stuff (including his knife he used to open the box, he was thinking of my safety of course) and went and took a shower.
I of course paced back and forth for like 5 minutes. Okay, that's it... I'm calling Tamra. (like she could do anything at 9:30 at night!) Just hearing her voice made me feel better. After I got off the phone with her..... I called "THEM." That's right, I called JC Penney's Customer Service Department at 9:30 PM. After a LONG conversation with a REALLY nice, understanding lady we decided that I needed to sleep on my decision and then call her back and let her know what I had decided. Because really, I was in no frame of mind to make any rational decisions. After I had gotten off the phone I went and sat on the couch to wait for Byron to get out of the shower. (or maybe I was waiting on him to gather up enough courage to come back into my presence?) Not sure, but he came back. He let me vent and then he said..... You know, God might be trying to teach you something with this experience........................................................................................
Long silence (he probably thought my head was going to start spinning and steam start blowing out my nose. I know it took allot of courage to say that to me right then.)
Then I just looked at him and thought to myself: You know, that's not what I WANTED to hear... you are suppose to have my back and get mad at this situation with me, but instead you aren't. No, instead.... he was telling me what I NEEDED to hear. He wasn't allowing the devil to pull him down into that pit of HELL like he had pulled me.
Man, I sure am glad I married that man! Whew!
This morning I awoke to a new prospective. It is still going to be okay. I called the JC Penney's CS and asked very nicely if they could put a rush on the CORRECT chair. They lady I spoke to today went above and beyond to help me out. I'm greatly appreciate her efforts even though it looks like I'm going to be waiting another 4-6 weeks for "THE CHAIR" to arrive.
Trying to have a Godly patience,

You are a lot nicer than I am. Good for you for handling it, though. I'm sure the chair will be worth the wait!
